Covid-19 Response Effort

Dear Africa Mental Health Research & Training Foundation Clients and Patients

We Maintain out commitment to helping you take proactive steps to maintain health. We encourage you to follow the guidelines from the ministry of health http://www.health.go.ke/. For additional information and to maintain awareness on the global trends you can visit: WHO (World Health Organization) or  CDC’s dedicated 2019-ncov.

Starting April, 2020  until otherwise notified, one of our doctors will continue to see clients in the office if you prefer face to face sessions. If you are attending a face to face session, please practice social distancing by waiting in the car (rather than the waiting room) or in our spacious parking space. We also have a beautiful garden that you can sit until your appointment time to ensure the rule of social distancing.

We are also taking additional precautions and taking proactive steps for your protection:

  1. 1. We are disinfecting commonly touched surfaces multiple times per day
  2. 2. We request that any clients or at risk of infection or experiencing illness stay home
  3. 3. We will avoid physical contact and wash our hands between clients
  4. 4. We are asking to make use of the available hand sanitizer
  5. 5. We will adhere to any directives from government officials

One of our doctors will be seeing patients through videoconferencing, teleconferencing .  Dr. Kameti will be able to see you through secure, HIPAA-compliant online means, if you would like to do your session from home or office. You will need a private space with internet access and a computer, laptop or tablet. It is also possible to do this with a smartphone, but not as reliable or comfortable.  This arrangement will serve for the inconvenience of travelling long distances. In addition to the primary problem prompting you to seek our services regardless of whether or not you or a family member or a friend is positive or not you will have the opportunity to talk with us how the COVID-19 is affecting you or family members emotionally and the options on how best to manage these.  Your mental health and that of your family are our key concern. Please check with our office about this option if you are interested.
